These comments are in response to the recent staged walk-outs of unskilled food service workers around the nation.
I know it has been said over and over again, but I'm going to say it again. If you don't think you are making enough money, then why are you still working there? Either go somewhere else where the pay is higher, or make yourself more valuable where you are. Minimum wage should be $0.00. You know why that doesn't make me a bad person to say that? Because that's what Organizing for America pays its workers. But hey, they are a non-profit organization and their "workers" are called "volunteers" so it's okay. If you think that's all your time is worth then by all means you should work for them. If, however, you think your time is worth $10.10/hour then you need to find someone who agrees. The market thinks unskilled fast food service workers are worth less than minimum wage, because that's what they get paid. There is always someone else willing to work for that amount or less if you won't do it.
To say it another way, don't wait for someone else to take care of you. Take care of yourself. You are the one who cares the most about yourself.
